Who I am

Hey there! Let me tell you a little bit about myself and my love of a good story.

I’ve spent more than 15 years as an award-winning, senior-level journalist in major newsrooms across Canada including CBC, The Globe and Mail and The Ottawa Citizen.

In 2013, I won the Michener-Deacon Fellowship for Journalism Education, and was a journalist-in-residence while studying audience and the impact of community newsrooms and citizen journalism on traditional news organizations.

In 2014, I moved from the newsroom to United Way Ottawa as its Director of Communications and Content. In my time at United Way, I developed and drove the strategy for all communications activities across the web, social media and other channels. My focus on storytelling changed the way United Way communicates with its donors and the community.

Today, I’m the Director of Communications at Sustainable Prosperity, an economic think tank out of the University of Ottawa that focuses on the environment. That’s right – I’m telling stories about the green economy.

I also love teaching and for the past five years I have been an instructor at Carleton University’s School of Journalism and Communications. This year, I’ll be teaching Digital Communications and civic engagement at Carleton.
